- Ipswich Carrier Library | Mickayla Keating
As a certified babywearing educator and working with the Australian Babywearing Association, Mickayla uses her skills to teach other mums how to safely and comfortably babywear. Sage Postpartum sponsers the Ipswich Carrier Library directly. Babywearing Support Babywearing Consultations: Discover the Comfort and Connection of Babywearing Are you ready to experience the many benefits of babywearing, but feeling unsure about which carrier is best for you or how to achieve the perfect fit? I offer personalised babywearing consultations to guide you through the process, helping you choose the right carrier that suits both your needs and your baby’s comfort. I have about 7-8 carriers of varying styles to try on in this process. Whether you're a first-time parent or an experienced caregiver, I’ll show you how to wear your baby in a way that promotes bonding, supports your baby’s development, and gives you the freedom to go about your day hands-free. From wraps to structured carriers, I'll help you find the perfect option, and teach you how to adjust it for the best fit to ensure safety and comfort for both you and your little one. My passion for babywearing began with my first child, and it has since grown into a deep commitment to helping other families experience the joy and convenience it brings. Through my own journey, I learned how essential it is to get the right fit — not only for comfort but also for maintaining proper posture and promoting healthy hip development. Babywearing has been a transformative experience for me as a mum, and I’m eager to share the knowledge I’ve gained with you. Let’s work together to find the perfect fit and help you enjoy the close, comforting bond that babywearing offers. FAQ: Yes, you can book this with a friend to save money. Yes, we can cover how to feed in a carrier Yes, I do bring most styles of carriers with me. Yes, I do have a newborn size doll to demo with for pregnant mums and dads Yes, you are welcome to bring your existing carrier to learn and adjust. Book your consult here (video or in person, leave a note) Ipswich Carrier Library Our library is open to other local mums for low cost 'rental' of carriers or trying on specific styles. This allows you the option to try before you buy, test new styles, or see if you even like a particular brand or carrier. There is less 1:1 focus and education than in a full consultation, however, we will run through a fit check with you so you can have a pleasant experience with the carrier from the start! This is an opportunity for mums to borrow newborn specific carriers (especially if they plan to or already have one not suited to newborns), or carriers for travel purposes, as well as just experimenting with different options and brands. We try to stock a range between what's popular, what is functional and some fun more advanced carriers. We do expect our carriers to be returned in the same condition they were borrowed. Donations to the library are accepted, and we offer repair services if the carrier isn't severely compromised. - Book Recommendations | Rosemary Naturopathy
Recommended Books This is a selection of health related and approachable books that I enjoyed reading. We hope they can offer you the same value. 1 Glucose Revolution - Jessie Inchauspé "Improve all areas of your health from your weight, sleep and cravings to your mood, energy and skin – and even slow down ageing – with easy-to-implement, science-based hacks to manage your blood sugar levels while still eating the foods you love." I loved this super approachable angle to managing blood sugar responses, even if you're not diabetic! She explains this so easily so you'll be able to keep it forfront of mind. 2 How Not To Die - Dr. Michael Greger It’s not How to Not Die, but How Not to Die—as in prematurely, in pain, and after a long, chronic, disabling illness. We have tremendous power over our health destiny and longevity. The vast majority of premature death and disability can be prevented through simple changes in diet and lifestyle. In this book he examines the top 15 causes of death in America—heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, and more—and explains how nutritional and lifestyle interventions can sometimes trump prescribed pills, other pharmaceutical approaches, and even surgery, freeing us to live healthier lives. (Note: It's a bit vego oriented but has loads of good info of what fruits and vegetables can achieve for us). 3 How The Pill Changes Everything - Sarah Hill This groundbreaking book sheds light on how hormonal birth control affects women--and the world around them--in ways we are just now beginning to understand. By allowing women to control their fertility, the birth control pill has revolutionized women's lives. Women are going to college, graduating, and entering the workforce in greater numbers than ever before, and there's good reason to believe that the birth control pill has a lot to do with this. But there's a lot more to the pill than meets the eye. Such a good read to understand more about your body! 4 Baby Brain - Dr Sarah McKay Sarah runs through the positive effects of baby brain last well beyond the baby stage - even into old age, with elderly mothers' brains showing resilience to ageing. Plus, the benefits of baby brain show up for non-birth parents - even fatherhood has a profound effect on the hormones and brains of men. With personal experiences from parents concerning baby brain, nesting, maternal instinct, social support, anxiety and sleep. I haven't even finished reading this book and I love it! 5/5 insightful! 5 The Postnatal Depletion Cure - Dr Oscar Serrallach Most mothers have experienced exhaustion, pain, forgetfulness, indecision, low energy levels, moodiness, or some form of baby brain. And it's no wonder: the process of growing a baby depletes a mother's body in substantial ways - on average, a mother's brain shrinks 5% during pregnancy, and the placenta saps her of essential nutrients that she needs to be healthy and contented. But with postnatal care ending after six weeks, most women never learn how to rebuild their strength and care for their bodies after childbirth. As a result, they can suffer from the effects of depletion for many years, without knowing what's wrong or getting the support and treatments that they need. "A complete guide to rebuilding your health and reclaiming your energy, for mothers of newborns, toddlers and young children " 6 GUT - Jill Enders For too long, the gut has been the body’s most ignored and least appreciated organ, but it turns out that it’s responsible for more than just dirty work: our gut is at the core of who we are. Gut, an international bestseller, gives the alimentary canal its long-overdue moment in the spotlight. Why does acid reflux happen? What’s really up with gluten and lactose intolerance? How does the gut affect obesity and mood? Communication between the gut and the brain is one of the fastest-growing areas of medical research—on par with stem-cell research. Our gut reactions, we learn, are intimately connected with our physical and mental well-being. (LOVED)
